Helpful Tips

Push the Windows Key and the Letter E at the same time to open Windows Explorer.

More Shortcuts

Windows key + R will open the Start menu's Run box
Windows key + F will open the Start menu's Find window
Windows key + E will quickly launch Explorer
Windows key + Pause/Break will open the System Properties window
Windows key + M will Minimize all windows
Windows key + Shift + M will undo Minimize all windows
Windows key + D will switch between minimizing all open programs and showing them all
Windows key + Tab will cycle through items on the taskbar
Windows key by itself will open the Start menu
ALT-TAB switch among open programs
ALT-ENTER highlight a file or folder and then press combination to view properties
ALT-F4 close a program or window

Monitor Screen is Turned

The Ctrl-Alt-Direction key sequence is supposed to be used for changing your workspace. On my computer at work it changes the screen orientation.
Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up
Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees
(If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl-Shift-R)

Scandisk is Missing

Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check.
Click Properties, and then click Tools.
Under Error-checking, click Check Now.
Click Start.
